In a partnership between VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific, Globus Events, and Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce, Pet Fair Southeast Asia 2024 opens today at Bangkok’s BITEC, positioning itself as a significant hub for the global pet industry. Supported by the Department of Livestock Development, the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), and other key associations, this year’s event spans from October 30 to November 1, gathering nearly 400 exhibitors from 40 countries and thousands of trade visitors from over 80 nations.
Now in its third year, Pet Fair Southeast Asia has evolved into a major international forum for networking, knowledge-sharing, and business growth in the pet sector. The 2024 edition offers an expanded program, featuring international pavilions from 12 countries and more than 40 experts sharing insights on the latest industry developments. “Thai Pet Avenue” also debuts this year, spotlighting Thailand’s innovative SMEs in the pet sector, while the “Pet Trade Service Consultants Zone” will provide guidance on export regulations and international standards to aid businesses in expanding globally.
Growing Economic Impact
The fair anticipates more than 10,000 visitors, with expected trade deals exceeding 850 million baht (approximately $25 million). Mr. Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, an advisory member to Thailand’s Minister of Commerce, spoke at the event, noting, “Thailand’s pet food industry is crucial for the national economy, ranking as the world’s second-largest exporter. By Q3 2024, exports reached $2.2 billion, marking a 26% year-on-year growth. This rapid expansion reflects the commitment of Thai manufacturers to delivering top-quality products that meet global demand.”
Dr. Somchuan Ratanamungklanon, Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development, highlighted the department’s support for sustainable industry growth: “We’ve established the Pet Food Service Center (PFSC) to simplify and streamline industry services. Our New Single Window electronic system will further assist Thai pet food businesses, ensuring rapid compliance with global standards.”
